Tomáš Moravec

Born in 1985

Tomáš Moravec does not conceive the reality around us as something given and invariable. In his works, he makes interventions into space; primarily public space but also the gallery space. In doing so, he disturbs the delusive impression of certainty given by our surroundings. In his work entitled Contact Lenses from 2009, he installed peepholes with slides at traffic sign poles. These depicted the given place on a satellite image at a moment when an unspecified social event is taking place there. For Jindřich Chalupecký Award, he created a work entitled White Man Disease; a projection of slides capturing his light interventions in the city environment.
