25th Jindřich Chalupecký Award Announces Five Finalists

The seven-member international jury has selected five finalists of the 25th edition of Jindřich Chalupecký Award, Czech Republic’s most prestigious award for visual artists. The jubilee edition has seen the greatest number of applications in the award’s history, with the jury choosing among 83 artists. The five finalists deal with conceptual art, photography, video and installation. Until the award presentation in November 2014, the artists will be introducing their works; on November 20, 2014, one of them will receive the very first material Jindřich Chalupecký Award to be made by one of the leading Czech design studios and artists. Křehký Gallery opens the exhibition "Jiří Příhoda: Cell I and III"

Jiří Příhoda is a leading Czech artist and winner of Jindřich Chalupecký Award /1997/. After the phenomenal success of his object Světlucha at Designblok 2013 (his installation was printed by magazines Domus, Designboom, A10 and other prestigious foreign and Czech media; famous French designer Matali Crasset said it was the best installation at Designblok; and he was nominated for the main Editors Prize), Jiří Příhoda implements another installation, this time for Křehký Gallery.
